A Gob of Fat and a Smile

pounds-480Another “scare tactic” campaign, although this one is a little less visually disturbing than the “no texting while driving” campaign in Wales.

This comes from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in New York State.   It depicts a soda drinker pouring himself a glass of jiggling, oozing fat -- complete with veins.

You can read some comments about the campaign here.  Predictably, nutrition experts think it’s great, while the American Beverage Association thinks it’s horrible.

I think it’s kind of a clever campaign, and the image probably will spark a disgust reaction for most people who see it.   But will this be enough to affect the strong emotional connections that people have with Coke and Pepsi?
