How cultural values shape our thinking
The Yale Cultural Cognition Project examines how "individuals conform their beliefs about disputed matters of fact (e.g., whether global warming is a serious threat; whether the death penalty deters murder; whether gun control makes society more safe or less) to values that define their cultural identities.”
A major themes is how people tend to reject facts that conflict with their cultural frames. This project address some hot-button social issues in the United States, so regardless of where you stand on these issues, you are likely to find the insights to be quite provocative.
