The Library of the Future?

An article from The Atlantic that describes how the New York Public Library is using new media creatively to engage its patrons and the community.

This stands out because public libraries are notoriously resistant to change.  Their technological standards generally are archaic, and for many librarians the word “marketing” is almost an obscenity.  As a result, they are really struggling to remain relevant, at least in the United States.

The NYPL, though, is going against that tide.  They have begun some innovative online initiatives that could  serve as inspiration for corporate clients as they try to better connect with consumers.
