Decisions, decisions

Here is an article from the New York Times about paint consultants who make a very good living helping people sort through the myriad paint options on the market.

Paint, as the article implies, is a great example of how too much choice can be a bad thing.  James and his wife were planning to paint a couple of walls this spring and it was hard enough to decide between blue and yellow.  That took forever.  But then they couldn’t decide on an exact shade of blue  -- did they want “Sky Delight” or “Clear Day”?  Eventually they said forget it, and just left the walls as they were.  So the smorgasbord of options was nice at first but it eventually paralyzed them.

I wonder how Benjamin Moore or Home Depot could make this decision easier for people – short of them spending $3,000 on a paint consultant?
