Don't shoot the messenger

 

We were under the gun to come up with a Z-Files for today.  In fact, we were sweating bullets.  So we pulled the trigger on this story from NPR about the pervasiveness of gun metaphors in American English.

Is this just an American thing, or are gun metaphors as prevalent in other English-speaking nations, or in non-English-speaking nations?
