Pizza party!
Here is an example of customer service jujitsu, making a bad situation work to your advantage. And it comes from an unlikely source – the U.S. airline industry.
When a Delta flight was stranded on the tarmac in Knoxville, Delta de-fused the situation simply by ordering pizza for all the passengers. Given a choice between disembarking and getting on a different flight and staying to eat the pizza, they all stayed and ate. The customers were mollified and Delta received a nice little PR boost.
This author claims a strategy like this would be particularly appealing to men. We're not sure we agree with that, but his rationale is interesting.
